Eagles make another trade, this one with Dolphins, before NFL deadline

The Philadelphia Eagles are going for it.

The NFL's trade deadline is Tuesday, and Philly has now made three deals in the last week with still time to go for more.

On Monday morning, they agreed to acquire Jaelan Phillips from the Miami Dolphins.

Phillips is a talented edge rusher that can help the Eagles' defense as they try to defend their Super Bowl crown.

The Eagles, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, are giving up a 2026 third-round pick for Phillips.

In the past week, the Eagles had already traded for two cornerbacks: Michael Carter II and Jaire Alexander.

They already made an in-season trade early in the campaign, too, for Jaguars RB Tank Bigsby.

Phillips is on an expiring contract, which made him expendable for Miami.

So far this season, Phillips has 3.0 sacks in nine games with 25 tackles.

In his career, Phillips has 26.0 sacks in 55 games.

He's a 26-year old edge rusher who began his college career at UCLA and finished it at Miami. The Dolphins then drafted the Hurricanes star with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

And now at the end of his rookie deal, Phillips goes from a struggling team to a team trying to defend its title. It could be the type of move that inspires him the rest of the way and brings out his best play. That's certainly what the Eagles will be hoping for.
