Throughout most of his first six NFL seasons, former Abbeville High School All-State wide receiver Josh Hines-Allen had been a dependable pass-rusher for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He earned Pro Bowl selection in 2019 and 2023, when he collected 10.5 and 17.5 sacks, respectively.
Hines-Allen entered the 2025 season with 53 regular-season sacks and another in the playoffs.
But under Jacksonville’s new coaching staff in 2025, the defensive end had one shared sack to show for the first seven games of the season.
On Sunday, Hines-Allen had 1.5 sacks among his three tackles in the Jaguars’ 30-29 overtime victory against the Las Vegas Raiders.
On the last play of the fourth quarter, Hines-Allen and Emmanuel Ogbah sacked Las Vegas quarterback Geno Smith on a snap from the Las Vegas 34.
Smith sacked Smith again on the Raiders’ second snap in overtime, although Las Vegas recovered from that setback to score a touchdown. Jacksonville held on to win when defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton knocked down Smith’s 2-point conversion pass.
Hines-Allen was among the 24 players from Alabama high schools and colleges (excluding Alabama and Auburn) who got on the field on the ninth Sunday of the NFL’s 106th season.
