Jayden Daniels' mom recently pushed back against fans attempting to compare her son to Robert Griffin III, whose electrifying rookie season gave way to a disappointing sophomore campaign and an injury-riddled final few seasons in Washington.
In one sense, the comparisons weren't fair. Daniels took the Commanders further in his rookie season than Griffin did, and a couple of mild injuries didn't rise to the level of the ACL tear Griffin suffered at the end of his rookie campaign.
After a gruesome elbow injury on Sunday night, however, it was hard for NFL fans not to notice the similarities between the night Griffin went down and the night Daniels left with a dislocated elbow.
Here's a look back at Griffin's injury and how the Seattle Seahawks' role in both instances brought back bad memories for Commanders fans.

Daniels and Griffin both went down with major injuries against the Seahawks and on the same field, nearly 13 years apart.
While the injuries impacted different parts of the body, the image of Griffin lying on the field under the lights, unable to get up, marked the beginning of the end for his brief run of success in Washington.
There isn't any reason to believe Daniels will suffer the same fate, particularly because his injury affects his non-throwing arm, but his second season has turned into a lost campaign much the way Griffin's did after he returned from his knee injury.

The injury isn't expected to come with too lengthy of a recovery time, as Daniels did not fracture any bones and didn't injure his throwing arm, but it was still the latest blow to the second-year quarterback after he missed time with knee and hamstring injuries earlier in the season.

Griffin suffered a torn ACL and LCL in the fourth quarter of a playoff loss to the Seahawks at the end of the 2012 season. He had previously suffered a knee sprain late in the regular season but missed only one game.

Griffin's injury wasn't all that similar to Daniels' in terms of how it actually happened. Griffin suffered a non-contact knee injury, while Daniels suffered an elbow injury after bein driven to the ground by a defender.
Still, there were similarities that are hard to ignore with both Washington quarterbacks ending up lying on the same field against the team writhing in pain.
