The Buffalo Bills hosted the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday evening in what was the most anticipated game of the Week 9 NFL slate - and it did not disappoint.
Buffalo controlled much of the game, but Kansas City remained within striking distance and had several opportunities in the fourth quarter. Trailing 28-21, the Chiefs were poised for a potential comeback, but the Bills defense, which had been strong all game, made back-to-back stands to seal the win.
After the game, Bills QB Josh Allen was asked if he could finally relax in the closing moments, with the Chiefs having just 22 seconds to drive for a potential touchdown. Allen made an honest admission about Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, saying you can never let your guard down when he's on the other side.
"No [I didn’t relax]…you never know with Pat," Allen said.
Allen led the way for the Bills, completing 23 of 26 pass attempts for 273 yards and three total touchdowns-two of which came on the ground-alongside running back James Cook, who rushed 27 times for 114 yards.
Mahomes, on the other hand, completed 15 of 34 passes for 250 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in the fourth quarter.
Kansas City is now 5-4 heading into its bye week and sitting in third place in the AFC West, while the Bills improve to 6-2 and trail the New England Patriots (7-2) for second place in the AFC East.
