Here is what Bills players, coaches said about the Chiefs after Sunday’s game

The Bills signed defensive end Joey Bosa during the offseason, bringing in someone very familiar with the Chiefs.

Bosa had played the previous seven seasons with the Chargers, one of the Chiefs’ AFC West rivals. Bosa had a sack and five quarterback hits in Buffalo’s 28-21 win over the Chiefs at Highmark Stadium.

Talking with reporters after the game, Bosa was glad the Bills won, but not so happy about the Chiefs converting a fourth-and-17 play.

“It feels good. Just proud of everybody,” Bosa said. “The way we rushed, kept him in the pocket, affected him. Just couldn’t be happier right now. It’s always a close one against those guys. They battled to the end. I was furious we let them convert that fourth down, but came through at the end.”

Bosa noted the Bills also beat the Chiefs in a regular-season game a year ago.

“We had a good plan,” he said. “Obviously beat them before here, and we knew what the formula was, and we executed.”

Here is what other Bills players said about the Chiefs following Sunday’s game.

TE Dawson Knox

Bills tight end Dawson Knox tipped his cap to the Chiefs.

“I mean, they’re an incredible team,” he said. “Year in, year out, they’ve been a great team for a long time. So we always know that we’ll probably see them twice. So having a win during the regular season is big. And hats off to them. They’re just well-coached, a bunch of talent all around.”

RB James Cook

Running back James Cook was asked what it meant to beat the Chiefs.

“I mean tough game,” he said. “Just getting a victory over those guys is always meaningful.”

QB Josh Allen

Quarterback Josh Allen improved to 5-1 in the regular season against the Chiefs, who have knocked the Bills out of the playoffs four times in the past five seasons.

“They’re the pinnacle of what you want your franchise to be,” Allen said. “They’ve been that for the last eight years. You know, any time you get a chance to play the best, and you can come away with a victory, you’re gonna be feeling pretty good.”

Coach Sean McDermott

Bills coach Sean McDermott had a great response when asked about what Buffalo did different to slow Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“Well, if I knew, I would have done it X amount of games ago, honestly,” McDermott said. “Andy (Reid, Chiefs head coach), (offensive coordinator) Matt Nagy, their coaching staff, Spags (defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo), Dave Toub on the special teams, it’s a great team, and they’re very well-coached. It’s not happened by accident that they’ve been to where they’ve been to and won the games that they won.

“So all you try and do is put a lot of time into it and the results sometimes are variable. So I thought overall, on the whole, we played a good, solid football game tonight.”
