NBA insider reveals why Memphis Grizzlies will struggle to trade Ja Morant

It’s been a rough start to the NBA season for Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. They have a 3-4 record, with their latest loss coming against a mediocre Toronto Raptors team. Morant is also disgruntled, having recently been suspended for one game.

There is tension between the team’s superstar and the coaching staff. Morant’s suspension came due to comments about the coaches following a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. And calls for the team to trade the 26-year-old are getting louder.

If the Grizzlies do move on from the explosive point guard, they would expect a big haul. However, as per NBA insiders Tim MacMahon and Tim Bontemps, they might just be disappointed on that front.

Ja Morant is not expected to have a robust trade market, per @BannedMacMahon.

“Bontemps, you say trade him, here’s the problem… I don’t think there’s much… You guys talk to people, I talk to people, do you find a lot of people that believe there’s gonna be some robust market if they do shop Ja Morant?” MacMahon asked on The Hoop Collective podcast.

“No, I don’t think there is one,” Bontemps said. “For a couple of reasons. All the things we just talked about and the second is, he’s just not that much of a difference maker at the point guard position.”

Morant’s disciplinary issues during his young NBA career are known to everyone. Following injuries, though, his game has also declined. Recently, Blake Griffin even called Morant out for a lack of effort. All signs point to Ja leaving Memphis, but it’s impossible to say what team he’d go to if that does happen.
