Man United star a ‘top priority’ for Barcelona boss Flick

Manchester United will hope to extend their unbeaten run when they travel to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Ruben Amorim’s side have won three and drawn one of their past four Premier League games, with the Portuguese having overseen the longest winning run of his tenure so far before his side were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Red Devils now sit eighth in the top flight table, and Amorim will want to see his side continue their good run of form when they face Spurs.

In the meantime, however, a major update has emerged in relation to the future of a Man United star.

As per CaughtOffside, Barcelona are stepping up their attempts to sign Marcus Rashford permanently.

The England international is currently on loan at Barcelona from United for the remainder of the current season, and he has been in fine form of late.

Since moving to Spain, Rashford has scored six goals and registered seven assists in 14 matches across all competitions for Hansi Flick’s side.

The report claims that the La Liga champions are therefore keen to sign the Englishman permanently, with Flick himself viewing the player as one of his top priorities for next year.

Barcelona could struggle to do so, however, as Rashford’s salary demands would far exceed the La Liga side’s Financial Fair Play limits.

Rashford, 28, signed a new long-term contract with the Red Devils in 2023, and the report claims that the player’s wages are the largest stumbling block preventing a deal form being agreed.

A product of United’s youth academy, Rashford scored 138 goals and provided 78 assists in 426 games for United across all competitions before falling out of favour following Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford 12 months ago.
