**Newcastle United were utterly humiliated at the London Stadium on Sunday. After a bright start, the Magpies faded and handed control of the game over to the hosts.**
A 3-1 scoreline was probably an unfair reflection of the game itself, with West Ham having a goal ruled out midway through the second half for the narrowest of margins for offside.
Newcastle could have been given another 90 minutes and still not found a way to score. It was utterly shambolic from the fifth minute onwards.
Eddie Howe's decision to make three changes during half time is a reflection of just how poor Newcastle were.

Bruno Guimaraes apologised to fans after yesterday's debacle
------------------------------------------------------------
Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes could only apologise for the team not being up to standard after the game (h/t The Chronicle).
> "Have to say sorry for our fans.
>
> "Not near enough to our best level. Your support is more than appreciated by us, and we have to show it on the pitch, especially away from home."
Apologise with performances
---------------------------
After that kind of performance, we should get an apology from every player who took to the pitch in that game.
However, we'll settle for them getting their act together and delivering something more like what we know them to be capable of on Wednesday night when Athletic Bilbao comes to the Toon for some Champions League action.
A win and a good performance will help to put Sunday's disaster behind us, but in all honesty, it's league performances that need addressing. It seems the lads have no problems getting hyped up for the Champions League.
