Deion Sanders is now in his third season as the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. Even after his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, left for the NFL, Coach Prime chose to remain in Boulder.

However, Morgan Moriarty of The Sporting News explored possible future destinations for Sanders outside of Colorado, and one potential fit he mentioned was the Cleveland Browns.
“This one is another hypothetical, given that the Browns are currently coached by Kevin Stefanski,”Moriarty wrote. “But the coach’s 42-50 overall record in Cleveland, paired with the team’s 2-6 start in 2025 means the job could come open in the coming months.
“While Sanders has said previously that he doesn’t think he’d be able to coach in today’s NFL, he could reunite with his son Shedeur in the NFL.”
The 2025 college football season has already seen several head coaches lose their jobs, but Sanders has managed to keep his position. According to CBS Sports insider John Talty, Colorado has no plans to fire Coach Prime.
Taltyalso said that Sanders could choose to leave on his own, which makes the Browns’ situation worth watching.
Cleveland selected Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he currently serves as the team’s backup quarterback. Deion and Shedeur previously enjoyed success together at both Jackson State and Colorado.
Sanders has no NFL coaching experience, and he has previously stated that he might not be a fit for the NFL coaching style. However, in January, he said that he would consider moving to the NFL if he could coach both of his sons. So he might give a try with Shedeur.

The Buffaloes suffered a crushing 52-17 defeat to Arizona on Saturday which marked their second consecutive embarrassing performance. Following the loss, Coach Prime faced the media with accountability.
During his postgame press conference, Sanders was firm in taking full responsibility for the loss while insisting that no one else should be targeted for the team’s failures.
“No one will be available tonight. It’s on me. Don’t attack coordinators, come at me. Don’t attack the players, come at me. This is me. This has nothing to do with none of them. It has everything to do with me,” Sanders said.
Sanders also quickly dismissed the suggestion that his players had mentally checked out during the game.
“I know a quitter when I see one. I haven’t seen that,” Sanders said.
The defeat came just a week after a humiliating 53-7 loss to Utah. With this latest setback, Sanders’ team fell to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the Big 12.
