“Everything is related”- Tottenham star keen to right N17 wrongs; ready to seize ‘huge…

Guglielmo Vicario vows to improve Tottenham Hotspur’s home form ahead of FC Copenhagen’s visit in the Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur’s terrible home form continued on Saturday as they lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the London derby in the Premier League. They barely had a sniff of goal and were beaten by Joao Pedro’s first-half strike.

After the defeat to Chelsea, Thomas Frank- just as he does after every home game- encouraged the players to acknowledge the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful. The Spurs fans should their displeasure by booing their players off the pitch after watching them lose another home game.

Poor home form is a continuation of a trend that started under Ange Postecoglou last season. Since the Lilywhites’ opening weekend 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Burnley, they have played four, lost three and drawn one at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League. That one draw came via Joao Palhinha’s stoppage-time strike against now manager-less Wolverhampton Wanderers.

This is a worrying statistic for a team that is aiming to close the gap on its rivals and fight for the major honours. Thomas Frank admitted last month that he wants to focus on improving the home form in the Premier League.

Guglielmo Vicario wants to help Tottenham improve dismal home form

Guglielmo Vicario aims to put things in place vs FC Copenhagen

Tottenham cannot continue to lick its wounds from the defeat to Chelsea. They have FC Copenhagen as the next visitors in north London in midweek, as Thomas Frank and Co. shift their focus towards Champions League.

The Lilywhites are unbeaten in the Champions League thus far, picking up five points from three league phase fixtures. They edged Villarreal 1-0 at home, and have drawn games with Bodo/Glimt and AS Monaco. Spurs were solid in N17 throughout their Europa League winning campaign last season, and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario wants to emulate that form in the Champions League this time around.

“Yeah. Um to be fair, I don’t know which is uh know the difference is probably in football is everything is related to a game that of course we didn’t perform at our best and we lost against a London team,” Guglielmo Vicario said in the pre-match press conference on Monday.

“So, probably is seen in also in a different perspective. But I think we can change things quickly starting from tomorrow because also our record in European competition playing at home is a big one is a huge one.

“So, we go tomorrow, we have a big opportunity to turn this track in another way. Uh tomorrow is the best chance to try to do it.”

Tottenham must bounce back vs FC Copenhagen

Tottenham have the fourth-worst home record in the Premier League, only being worse off than Nottingham Forest, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham. Their troubles were compounded by Chelsea on Saturday, with the result seeing Frank’s side drop out of the top four.

The mood around White Hart Lane is quite low right now, and rightly so. Losing 12 out of their 20 home league games in 2025 means the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium going fans have endured a torrid past year. It is something that Frank needs to sort as soon as possible if he is to push his team into genuine Champions League contention, and that must start against FC Copenhagen in midweek before Manchester United pay a visit at the weekend.
