What Chelsea will decide to do if Enzo Fernandez asks to join Real Madrid - journalist

Chelsea could have a decision to make with Enzo Fernandez this summer amid rumours of Real Madrid being interested in the midfielder.

Last month, it was claimed that Real Madrid scouts actually watched Fernandez during Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Liverpool.

The 24-year-old was great that day and has been one of the Blues’ best players this season.

It is not a surprise, then, to hear that Real Madrid have an interest in Fernandez.

Chelsea will listen to Enzo Fernandez if he asks to join Real Madrid

Given his importance to the Chelsea team, supporters and Enzo Maresca will not want to see Fernandez leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

However, journalist Simon Phillips has not completely ruled out a transfer, which will concern Chelsea fans.

On his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, he claimed that if Fernandez asks to leave, the Club World Cup winners will consider Real Madrid’s offer if they make one.

According to the same journalist, though, it would have to be a big proposal for Chelsea to consider a sale.

With the Argentine having a contract until 2032, the club are obviously in a strong position. But if he makes a big fuss of things, it will be interesting to see what happens.

Enzo Fernandez’s current stance on leaving Chelsea

The good news for Chelsea fans is that it does not look like Fernandez is itching to leave west London.

Fernandez has not signalled that he wants to depart Chelsea for Real Madrid, which is great news. Of course, things could change between now and the end of the season.

However, the Argentina international seems to be really enjoying his football right now as he influences games in attack.

Maresca has allowed Fernandez to roam forward or started him in a more advanced position, and it has allowed the former Benfica man to score more goals.

This season, he has already netted four times in 14 outings, which is pretty good for a midfielder.
