There seems to be some drama going on at the Memphis Grizzlies right now after star point guard Ja Morant was suspended for one game for voicing his displeasure of the team’s coaching staff, following last Friday’s NBA Cup loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green wasn’t overly surprised by Morant’s words after observations he made of the former second overall pick’s demeanor on the court.

“When I saw his comments, I found those interesting but all they did was confirm to me what I was watching,” Green said while speaking on The Draymond Green Show.

“When we got on that plane I was telling Steph (Curry) like man, Ja ain’t in it at all…it looked like something happened, like Ja, it ain’t Ja. Like he was giving the ball to Cam Spencer and kind of going and standing in the corner.

Green also wondered what all this could mean for Morant’s relationship with the Grizzlies organization moving forward.

“When I look at this suspension I say okay, they then hire an assistant coach (head coach Tuomas Iisalo) who I’m almost certain that Ja didn’t really sign off on,” Green said.
“But they’re showing you they don’t care what you think. And usually when they show stars that they don’t care what you think, the next move is usually you.”

Memphis also haven’t had a great start to the season after going 3-4 in their first seven games, and they will look to rectify this starting with tonight’s clash with the Detroit Pistons.
However in the long run, it may be difficult for the team to see meaningful and consistent on court improvement if the situation with Morant remains an issue and continues to linger.
