Austin Reaves swears he had to have just made NBA history

No one's ever done this in the history of the NBA before, right? Austin Reaves certainly doesn't believe so.

Reaves, a former Oklahoma Sooner now with the Los Angeles Lakers, guarantees he made history during the Lakers' 130-120 win against the Miami Heat on Sunday. In the first quarter of the victory, Reaves during a breakaway lobbed a high pass to Bronny James, who slammed it down. James is the son of NBA All-Star and teammate LeBron James, who Reaves has also connected on an oop with before.

“I’ve gotta be the first person in NBA history to throw a father a lob and a son a lob," Reaves said afterward. "I don't know. It's gotta be, right?"

Reaves is obviously correct considering LeBron and Bronny James are the first father-son duo to actually play in the NBA at the same time, as well as on the same team and even on the court at the same time during a game last year. As expected from a guy old enough to play with his son, though, LeBron hasn't seen the court yet this season because of an injury, which has opened up more opportunity for guys like Bronny and Reaves.

With no LeBron, and even no Luka Doncic at one point, Reaves has emerged as an All-Star candidate early this season. Reaves is sixth in the NBA while averaging 31.1 points a game, which included a 51-point outing when LeBron and Doncic were both out with injuries. He's also fourth in the NBA with 9.3 assists a game.
