Nottingham Forest's B Team returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland in Premier League 2 on Monday night.

Second half goals from Lamin Sillah and Adam Berry secured all three points for the Reds at Loughborough University, on a night where Warren Joyce's side were more than good value for the win.

It was all Forest in the opening stages, working the ball into dangerous areas with Berry and Sillah both threatening the goal from the off. Zyan Blake glanced Jamie Newton's cross wide on 20 minutes as the Reds' bright start continued.

After dominating possession in the first half, Forest continued to apply pressure on the Black Cats' goal, with Archie Whitehall's left-footed, curling effort forcing Benjamin Metcalf into a great save on the hour.

But on 71 minutes, the Reds deservedly broke the deadlock through Sillah, who did well to control the ball on the edge of the area before turning his man and coolly slotting the ball into the bottom corner for 1-0.

12 minutes later, Forest doubled their lead. Luke Campbell's long ball forward caused panic in the Sunderland defence, with Metcalf narrowly beating Sillah in a foot race for the ball. Forest kept the attack alive however, and Berry, who found space on the edge of the area, wrong-footed his man and found the bottom corner for 2-0.

Next up for the Reds is a trip to York to face Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.
