After suffering consecutive losses to the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons, the Buffalo Bills hit a rough patch, as many wondered whether this team was truly a title contender in the AFC. However, that slight slump didn’t last long, as Josh Allen and company bounced back with impressive wins over the Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs.

Along with getting back on track with two straight wins while also getting the best of Patrick Mahomes‘ squad, Allen made history during Sunday’s game at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo, but he didn’t do it with his arm.

According to the Bills, Allen has now surpassed former Panthers superstar Cam Newton for the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in NFL history. Allen’s 78 rushing touchdowns include the NFL playoffs.

With his 78th career rushing TD, Josh Allen has now surpassed Cam Newton (77) for the most rushing TDs by a QB (including playoffs) in NFL history.

The face of the Bills franchise was asked during his postgame press conference what it means to break the record.

“It means I’m doing my job,” Allen said humbly. “That’s all it means.”

After Allen scored his second touchdown on the ground in Week 9, he moved into 26th on the NFL’s all-time list, surpassing Earl Campbell and Pete Johnson. The 29-year-old also has Bills legend Thurman Thomas in the crosshair, who sits above him at No. 25 on the all-time list.

Josh Allen now has 79 career rushing TDs, including playoffs, moving into sole possession of 26th on the NFL’s all-time list and surpassing Earl Campbell & Pete Johnson.

Thurman Thomas (81) ranks 25th.

Allen had an incredible performance against the rival Chiefs, as he completed 23 of the 26 passes he threw, connecting with tight end Dalton Kincaid for his only touchdown pass while also rushing for two scores on his six carries.

The superstar gunslinger continues to set the bar higher and higher with each passing game, as he seems impossible to game plan for from an opposing defense perspective. If Allen can keep up this pace while leading the Bills to victories on a weekly basis, Buffalo will be a serious threat to win it all with Allen being in the conversation to win a second straight NFL MVP award.

Along with making history with his legs, Allen set a franchise record for completion percentage during Sunday’s game at 88.5 percent.

Heading into Sunday’s heavyweight showdown with the Chiefs, Allen was third on the NFL’s all-time list for total touchdowns by a player before the age of 30.

Ironically enough, it was Mahomes that was sitting above him at 280 touchdowns, with Allen coming in at No. 3 with 279. NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning is currently at the top of the list with 288, which is definitely a milestone Allen can reach this season.

With Allen scoring three touchdowns in Week 9, the Bills superstar quarterback matched and surpassed Mahomes in the same game while the Chiefs star was watching from the sideline.

Allen’s birthday is on May 21, meaning he’ll have the rest of the season to go after Manning’s record, which seems will be broken before season’s end.

With nine games left in the regular season and the Bills more than likely playing in the NFL playoffs, Allen has a solid shot of coming out on top.
