The Detroit Lions lost a hard-fought game against division rivals, the Minnesota Vikings, 27-24, at home in Week 9. While the team's offense put up decent stats in the close contest, the one number that really stuck out is five. That's how many times quarterback Jared Goff got sacked on Sunday.

The Lions have been hurt by inconsistency on the O-line, but those problems have been further compounded due to an injury to guard Christian Mahogany. However, a recent report suggests Detroit could be looking to bring one of its recent players back to the Motor City.
"This is a tricky one because the contract extension of defensive end Aidan Hutchinson and looming potential future extensions of running back Jahmyr Gibbs, safety Brian Branch, tight end Sam LaPorta, and linebacker Jack Campbell necessitate as much salary cap savings as possible for the Lions," wrote Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson. "Guard Kevin Zeitler, who was a key piece of the Lions’ offensive line for years before departing to the Tennessee Titans in free agency, could be had for a song at this point. He’d be only a rental, but he comes in ready to start immediately for the Lions and shore up the interior of that line."
Zeitler, 35, could be the quick fix the Lions are looking for. In 2024, his only season with the Lions, he appeared in and started 16 games at right guard, and made two fumble recoveries.
