Grizzlies' Ja Morant could be on move following passive aggressive remarks toward team

Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies are not on the best of terms.

After the team's five-point loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in their first NBA cup game, Morant made some interesting remarks towards the coaching staff and the rest of the team.

When he was asked what the coach's game plan was for improving the team's performance, he said, “probably don’t play me.”

He also added that reporters should “go ask the coaching staff” when asked what went wrong in his 3-of-14 from the field performance.

This led the team to suspend him for one game, which he served on Sunday night against the Toronto Raptors.

Because of the drama in the locker room, Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus suggests a trade for another star despite there being no trade market for Morant, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN.

“Morant may not be an immediate fit based on the Heat's current offensive system. But the franchise could take the risk on his elite talent on the hope that their famed work-ethic-above-all-else culture offsets any flaws,” Pincus said Sunday.

“Herro wouldn't be available immediately for the Grizzlies, as he's expected back later this month from an ankle injury. The 25-year-old guard made his first All-Star appearance last year for Miami, but questions persist about the franchise's devotion to Herro.”

Morant would get sent to the Miami Heat for Tyler Herro and an $8.4 million trade exception in this hypothetical trade.

Ja is the type of player made for a bigger market, with his impressive posters and ability to lead a team deep into the playoffs.

Although Herro is coming off his first All-Star appearance, his injury has been detrimental to the team.

Both teams could use this as an opportunity to retool their rosters, making them right for next season.
