Marcus Jones Praises Patriots’ Rush Defense After Win Vs. Falcons

No player has rushed for 50 yards against the New England Patriots this season, and cornerback Marcus Jones [is pleased with](https://x.com/WEEIAfternoons/status/1985456881457119353) the team’s run defense.

“I’m very proud of the guys,” Jones said on Monday during “WEEI Afternoons”. “We pride ourselves on stopping the run, getting it to the back end. We can have the quarterback throw the ball way more, which gives us way more opportunities on the back end to make plays.”

New England’s run defense had a real test on Sunday when it faced Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson.

Many consider Robinson one of the top running backs in the NFL, and the Patriots did an impressive job, allowing him to gain only 46 rushing yards on 12 carries during New England’s 24-23 victory.

If the Patriots continue to stop opposing running attacks, teams will find it increasingly difficult to defeat them. As the weather starts to shift, teams will rely more on their ground game when they play in Foxborough.

If New England successfully shuts down its opponents’ rushing offense, the opposing quarterback may have to throw the ball frequently in poor conditions, which could lead to a handful of turnovers.
