We are 24 hours away from the NFL trade deadline and the Pittsburgh Steelers have yet to make an impact addition at wide receiver.
The hope is that the Steelers will add a sufficient No. 2 wide receiver, something they failed to do last season after the Mike Williams trade blew up in their face.
According to reports, the Steelers are exploring their options, but Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette doesn't believe the Steelers will make a splash for a No. 2 wide receiver. While he might be right, we just don't want to believe it.
The Draft Network's Justin Melo has the right idea for the Steelers. He predicts the team will pull off a trade with the Tennessee Titans for wide receiver Calvin Ridley.
"The Pittsburgh Steelers upset the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, ending a two-game skid. Ridley would be an outstanding fit in Arthur Smith's offense opposite D.K. Metcalf," he wrote. "There's a hole at WR2, and Aaron Rodgers is playing well enough to warrant a deal."
Ridley, who is currently dealing with a hamstring injury that isn't believed to be serious, has posted just 290 yards through five games this season, although it's important to note he's stuck on a bad team with a terrible offense.
Ridley has posted 1,000 yards or more three times during his career, including in 2024, when he was also on one of the league's worst offenses in Tennessee.
The former first-round pick would offer an immediate upgrade for the Steelers, who only have one wide receiver with more yards than Ridley (DK Metcalf has 467). Adding to that, he's under contract for a reasonable price through 2027, so the veteran could be a long-term option.
There have been conflicting reports about Ridley's availability, though.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Ridley has "emerged as a potential trade target," while ESPN's Turron Davenport reports the Titans aren't shopping him. We should point out, however, that just because a team isn't shopping a player doesn't mean they won't be willing to trade him.
For a Titans team that is years away from competing, it makes sense to unload Ridley, and for a Steelers team that has a clear need at the position, it would behoove Pittsburgh to add the 30-year-old.
