The Rockets cooked on all burners offensively in a 128-101 road victory over the Boston Celtics on Saturday night. Kevin Durant scored 26 points on 8-of-11 shooting and sat out the fourth quarter, while Amen Thompson went for 17 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. Alperen Şengün finished with 16 points, 10 boards, and nine dimes as Houston shot 54.5% overall and hit 19-of-29 (65.5%) from 3-point range.
Dallas was overwhelmed by the Detroit Pistons in the fourth quarter of its 122-110 loss in Mexico City on Saturday night, making just 4-of-16 shots and turning the ball over seven times to help Detroit run away. D'Angelo Russell came off the bench for 31 points, and No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg scored a season-high 16, but was just 3-of-14 from the floor. The Mavericks were without Anthony Davis due to a calf strain.
Davis will be out again on Monday before he is re-evaluated, while Dallas is also without Dante Exum (knee) and Dereck Lively II (knee). Rockets forward Dorian Finney-Smith (ankle) didn't play Saturday and is day-to-day. He has yet to play this season.
Durant averages 26.2 points per game, with Şengün posting 22.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 7.6 assists. With Davis sidelined, Russell's 14.2 points and 5.0 assists per game top the Mavs, with P.J. Washington getting 7.7 boards a night. Flagg is putting up 13.8 points and 6.5 rebounds on shooting splits of .373/.286/1.000.
