Bills Mafia is on high alert as Buffalo makes a financial chess move hours before the NFL trade …

Sound the alarms, Bills Mafia. The Buffalo Bills may be getting ready to make a move ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

With the NFL trade deadline less than 24 hours away, Bills general manager Brandon Beane freed up additional cap space by restructuring the contract of CB Taron Johnson. Buffalo’s general manager converted Johnson’s base salary into a signing bonus, a move that created an extra $1.75M in salary cap space.

Buffalo had $1.78 million in cap space before the move, the lowest amount in the NFL. This pushes the Bills to a little over $3.5 million. What the Bills potentially do with the cap space is yet to be seen.

Buffalo has been linked specifically to receivers Chris Olave and Jakobi Meyers and linebacker Logan Wilson. Ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, Ian Rapoport reported that Buffalo is also looking at defensive linemen.

Adding another defensive lineman may have skyrocketed up Buffalo’s list of trade targets after defensive end Michael Hoecht tore his Achilles in the Bills’ 28-21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs. In addition to being without Hoecht, Buffalo is also without star defensive tackle Ed Oliver for the foreseeable future. Defensive tackle DaQuan Jones and T.J. Sanders are also currently out of action for the team, but both are expected back in the near future.

Beane has until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, to make a deal. With one contract reworked to free up cap space, Buffalo could be closing in on a deal to bolster their roster.
