ANDONI Iraola praised Manchester City for their ruthless attack but felt his side could have been better defensively at times.

The [Cherries](http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/cherries/clubnews/?ref=au) fell to a 3-1 defeat to their hosts on Sunday, and they were punished for defensive lapses by the City attack, in particular by in-form striker Erling Haaland.

Asked if he felt there was much his team could have done better or if they wasn’t much they could have done against a firing City side, Iraola said: “For sure. We could have done something better for sure.

“If I review tomorrow, I will tell you we should have done this.

“But I understand that it's very difficult. They put a lot of players inside against us especially. Normally they don't leave the wingers open so they attract you a little bit so they can exploit those spaces after with the fullbacks going a little bit more offensive.

“But it's not even when you are tight and you don't allow them a lot of spaces. Cherki, Foden, they can play one touch, and like one of the goals.

“It's not we are very far. It's like, the coordination is amazing, bang, bang, we react little bit late. This swap of the centre backs, you lose one metre against Haaland, you are not recovering the metre.

“It's going to be three metres at the end of the play. Because against other players maybe you can recover and it doesn't look so bad. But against Haaland it's going to be him against the keeper.”
