The Dallas Cowboys slumped to a horror 27-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium that now puts their season on life support.
The pre-game was dominated by owner Jerry Jones and his trade talk, with the Billionaire stating that he had made a trade and could even do two more ahead of the deadline
Well, Mr. Jones, I'm here to tell you not to bother...unless it is for a player who will be in Dallas beyond 2025.
We know that any trade would be on the defensive side of the ball, with linebacker, corner and pass rusher the three in the most urgent need of reinforcing, but after yet another embarrassing performance from Matt Eberflus' defense for three quarters, and credit where it is due, they showed signs of life in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late.
But make no mistake, it is hard to envision this defense being significantly better to the point where playoffs are achievable with just one or two trades.
Granted, I could be wrong here, but it just feels like this season is nearly a wash.
Could there be an uptick in form like we saw with the Amari Cooper trade? Possibly, but even that sort of injection might not be enough for this defense to become average.

Cowboys again embarrassed
Last week, it was the Denver Broncos who made the Cowboys, on both sides of the ball, mind you, look second-rate, and this time it was the 2-5 Cardinals who torched the Dallas defense and made like hell for Dak Prescott and Co.
The explosive offense has been hushed over the past two games, and yes, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens both surpassed 80 receiving yards, and Javonte Williams rushed for 83 yards at 5.5 yards per clip, but it was all for nothing.
Now, Dallas heads into the bye week on a two-game losing streak and in need of soul-searching in the biggest way.
As for those trades, keep those picks in your pocket, Mr. Jones, unless you are getting players for next year and beyond.
