Baker Mayfield is no stranger to having to answer hard questions. During Monday Night Football‘s Manning cast, Eli Manning was conversing with Baker about breaking out of sacks and asked:
“When does he (Mayfield) work on scrambling?”
Mayfield replied with the most clever answer, a callback to his wild college days.
“I tried one time in Fayetteville, Arkansas, it didn’t go to well, wound up getting arrested.”
Peyton and Eli Manning both chuckled, just as those watching at home did.
What Baker is referring to is his time in college in 2017, while attending the University of Oklahoma. He was in Arkansas partying then, and while intoxicated, he attempted to evade police, which he failed to do.
Mayfield is a genuine person, a great leader, and a true franchise quarterback when given the support. Answers like this are what make the Bucs fans love Baker even more and show that even the pros are human and can laugh about things years later.
