Man Utd ruled out move for Endrick over one condition set by Real Madrid, it backed up Ruben Amorim decision

Manchester United are delivering on a pledge Ruben Amorim is firmly behind.

Erik ten Hag’s disastrous transfer policy went beyond spending huge money on players who failed to live up to their price tag.

Ten Hag was also a huge fan of short-term loan moves, see Wout Weghorst, Sergio Reguilon and more.

Ruben Amorim is set against this policy, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the current Manchester United head coach only wants to sign players if they have a long-term future at the club.

And already, it appears that Ineos are putting this into practice, walking away from a potential move

Manchester United end Endrick interest

Real Madrid believed they had pulled off a sensational move when they signed Brazilian wonderkid striker Endrick in 2024.

Endrick had charmed the football world when he scored for Brazil at Wembley at the age of 17, and paid tribute to Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton.

His time in Spain has not been quite as straightforward. He has scored only seven goals in 38 appearances, totally overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid and Endrick have both decided he needs to leave the club on loan, and ESPN Brasil report Manchester United held talks.

However, it is claimed that Manchester United ‘immediately ruled out’ a possible move after learning that Real Madrid would not sanction a buy clause in the deal.

And this took any attractiveness out of a possible move. Endrick is not a player to make an impact over a few months, he is a project, and one who is 10 years away from his peak.

Real Madrid understandably don’t want to give up on their investment, and United rightly don’t want to develop the La Liga side’s player for them.

It is claimed Endrick has agreed to sign on loan with Lyon in January, in a straight loan move with no clause.

Ironically, Manchester United did similar before with Sergio Reguilon

Manchester United’s move is the right one, with Ineos taking a sensible approach, compared to the six loan deals executed under Erik ten Hag.

But there is a little history here with Manchester United and Real Madrid, going back six years to 2020.

In 2020 Manchester United negotiated with Real over Sergio Reguilon, who had been on loan at Sevilla.

However, Real wanted a buy-back clause, and Manchester United refused to strike the deal. He ended up signing with Tottenham instead.

Real never did end up re-signing Reguilon. They now have Alvaro, who was cast aside by United in 2023 to sign Reguilon on loan from Tottenham. A total disaster for United.

In 2025/26, it seems that United at least have their heads screwed on right, and are not sanctioning a pointless loan deal for Endrick, that would see him fly straight back to Spain as soon as the deal expires.
