The French forward has discussed his performances with head coach Fabian Hurzeler as the Seagulls search for a consistent winning formula.
He has yet to add to his five goals in the Premier League last term but was part of a convincing 3-0 win over his old club.
Asked for his assessment of his season far, Rutter told The Argus: “Of course I didn't score. When I speak with the manager, he says, ‘Georgi, sometimes you don't need to score’.
“If we win and you help the team, it's more important.
“I'm not the type of player who finds goal, goal, goal every time because I'm not like this.
“I'm very generous, so I can do assists like today, but I'm not like focussed on goals.
“I'm more focussed on helping the team and being here for my team-mate.
Rutter was more prominent in the second half against Leeds but was happy with his performance across the full game.
He said: “I think it was hard to find me in a good situation in the first half.
“But, when I got the ball, I didn't lose the ball, so I was all right. Second half, there was more space.
“I think it's better when you don't lose the ball than lose the ball. I was all right, I think.
“I think the more important not about assists.
“We won so we are very happy.”
