Wolves’ 3-0 loss to Fulham was followed by Vitor Pereira’s sacking.
The Midlands club have picked up only two points in the Premier League as they now look for a new manager.
Wolves’ star striker Jørgen Strand Larsen has now spoken about Pereira’s exit and what he wants in a replacement.
The 25-year-old spoke to Halden Arbeiderblad, expressing gratitude towards the Portuguese for trusting him since last season.
He said, relayed by TV2: “ I have a lot to thank Vítor for.”
“He had confidence in me last year, and was important to me when I found my form. And he was important when the team found its form over the winter.”
Speaking about the sacking, the striker stated that this could be what Wolves need.
“That’s how football is. It hasn’t worked, and maybe this is what we need.”
When asked about replacements, the Norwegian didn’t mention names but looked at what they should provide.
“There are many exciting names being mentioned, we will probably get more information later in the week. The most important thing for us is to bring in a manager who can light a new spark in the group.”
Larsen believes the new manager should replicate Pereira’s impact at the club.
“Hopefully we can get the same effect we got when Vítor came in a year ago.”
Under Pereira, Larsen played 32 times in all competitions. He scored 11 goals and assisted twice.
Impressive performances raised the striker’s profile, helping him attract interest from Newcastle United.
It shows that the 57-year-old brought the most out of the Norway international.
So far in the Premier League, he has just one goal. That clearly needs improvement and Wolves themselves have scored just once in the league campaign.
This shows that the new manager would need to unlock the club’s attack quickly. This will also help Larsen get back to his best.
