Vitalii Mykolenko has been first choice left-back for Everton since joining them from Dynamo Kyiv in January 2022.
The Ukraine international missed the start of the season due to injury. Since regaining full fitness, he returned to David Moyes’ starting lineup and played seven league games.
Mykolenko’s contract at Everton runs until the end of this season.
The Everton player was a guest on Vatsko Live, a YouTube channel managed by Ukrainian journalist, Viktor Vatsko, and [Tribuna](https://ua.tribuna.com/uk/football/1000000292288-vitaliy-mykolenko-navit-yakshcho-v-sichni-ne-bude-propoz/) have relayed his comments.
Vatsko asked the 26-year-old about a report which has claimed the player doesn’t want to discuss an Everton renewal.
Responding to that, he said: _“I don’t know where you read that.”_
The journalist immediately mentioned Ukrainian insiders, and the Toffees man wasteed no time dismissing these claims.
_“Ah, that’s all, of course. That I don’t want to negotiate \[contract\] with Everton is a complete lie, because we just haven’t talked about it yet,”_ Mykolenko explained.
According to the defender, his representatives will soon contact Everton with regards to his future. However, he remains focused on training and playing for the Premier League side. Mykolenko adds he and his family are comfortable in England.
Everton talks are on the way
----------------------------
_“I know my agent will be talking to Everton representatives soon,”_ he added.
_“I don’t even think about it because I like to play for this club, I get a kick out of it here, that’s the most important thing for me. My family is comfortable living here. Basically, there is nothing more to say.”_
If Everton don’t tie him down to a new contract before the end of this year, he’ll be eligible to negotiate with foreign clubs from January. This possibility doesn’t seem to worry Mykolenko.
_“It doesn’t affect me at all. I know how the coaching staff feels about me, how the club feels about me,”_ the Ukrainian said.
_“Even if there are no offers in January or before January, it doesn’t bother me because, as you know me personally, I am a professional and will work out my contract 100%. I won’t say that I won’t train because I don’t like it, because you treat me differently. This story is not about me.”_
