Player informs West Ham of January transfer desire – Wants to throw in Hammers towel

West Ham United signed Niclas Füllkrug from Borussia Dortmund in August 2024, and he’s struggled with form and fitness since then.

The Germany international missed over six months of last season and has already picked up two injuries this season. He failed to score or register an assist from seven matches.

Füllkrug’s agent Thorsten Wirth has told Tomorrow Business Podcast that his client’s move West Ham hasn’t worked as expected. Sky Deutschland have relayed his comments.

The representative has also discussed the possibility of taking the striker away from the Hammers.

He said: “Looking back, we have to say the transfer didn’t work out. There’s no point in sugarcoating it. That [exit] always has to happen in conjunction with the club. But let’s put it this way: I think it could make sense to make a change there.”

Sky Deutschland have also provided their own take on the 32-year-old’s future plans. It’s claimed he’s determined to leave England and a move back to the Bundesliga ‘remains an attractive option’.

Füllkrug wants regular minutes with the hope of representing Germany at the next World Cup. He wants those minutes to be away from Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.

According to the report, he’s ‘registered his desire to leave’ with West Ham in January. They are open to letting him go.

AC Milan wanted to sign Füllkrug at the start of this year and a fee of around €15-20m was then discussed. Sky now explain West Ham won’t be able to demand a similar fee in the winter market, if there’s a permanent transfer.
