Bruno Guimaraes to avoid fresh Newcastle United nightmare after official announcement

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes has been named in the Brazil squad for the upcoming international break.

Having finished their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, Brazil are preparing for friendlies against Senegal and Tunisia.

Those friendlies will include Bruno Guimaraes, who has unsurprisingly retained his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. Just as he is for Newcastle United, the 27-year-old is a key player for his country.

Bruno is a regular for Brazil, resulting in some arduous journeys across the globe. However, that will not be the case during this international break, much to the delight of Eddie Howe.

No lengthy flights for Bruno Guimaraes and Brazil

While Bruno will be playing for Brazil during the November international break, he will not actually be heading to South America.

That is because the Selecao are in action in Europe on this occasion. They face Senegal at the Emirates Stadium in London, before taking on Tunisia at the Decathlon Stadium in Lille.

Ancelotti’s side will also be training in London and Lille ahead of both friendlies.

That will limit the amount of travelling that Bruno has to do, which is great news after the last international break.

It is usually hard enough when Bruno returns from representing Brazil in South America, but the last international break saw the Toon midfielder compete in Japan and South Korea. It was an incredibly long and tiring journey, which made Bruno a doubt for Newcastle United’s return to domestic action.

It was a difficult situation for Howe to handle, but he will not have that problem after the upcoming international break.

Joelinton being dropped is a blessing for Newcastle United star

While Bruno is in the Brazil squad, Joelinton is not.

The 29-year-old has been dropped by Carlo Ancelotti, meaning he will not get the chance to add to the eight caps he has already won.

While that will disappoint the £40million man, it will be seen as a positive by Howe.

Joelinton is struggling for form right now, with Newcastle United’s midfield not functioning as it once did. He appears to be the weak link, with fans calling for Jacob Ramsey to start instead.

With that in mind, Joelinton could benefit from doing some additional work with Howe at the training ground. The Toon boss has the tools to get Joelinton back to his best, and this Brazil snub could actually prove to be a positive for the Magpies’ number seven.

While being dropped by Brazil is a blow, Joelinton would not be going to the 2026 World Cup on this form. If this snub can spark a turnaround then perhaps his World Cup dream can be reignited.
