November 4 – Evangelos Marinakis has pledged to fund the medical care of any Nottingham Forest fans caught up in a mass stabbing incident on a train last Saturday.
According to the club “many of our London-based supporters were travelling home on that train” following a home game against Manchester United.
Eleven people were injured and received hospital treatment and two of them remain in a life-threatening condition after the incident, which occurred on a train from Doncaster to the capital.
Police described it as a shocking and chaotic attack. One witness, Alistair Day, recalled thinking it was some kind of prank until he saw people running and bleeding.
Forest owner Marinakis said: “The courage and selflessness shown by our supporters on that train represents the very best of humanity and the very best of our club’s community.”
The club’s official statement echoed that sentiment, praising the bravery of those who stepped in to help and promising continued support.
It read: “The club is aware that many individuals demonstrated extraordinary bravery, which undoubtedly helped prevent even greater harm. The entire Nottingham Forest family stands firmly behind them as they recover.”
