Guo Guangchang sent a public message as Wolves fans reach breaking point

A large group of Wolves supporters have issued an open letter to Guo Guangchang about the state of the club and the direction of travel.

As the search for Wolves’ next manager continues, there is a feeling of unrest around the club.

Often, a change in manager is a source of excitement, and hope for a change in the wind. But that’s not the case at Wolves. Fans are more focused on the glaring issues at the club that come from the very top.

In an open letter to Guangchang and Fosun, fans have expressed their concerns and called for more clarity and engagement around the club’s long-term vision — and the future of chairman Jeff Shi.

Wolves fan groups send a message to Fosun and Guo Guangchang

On Tuesday morning, a public letter from many Wolves supporter groups emerged, laying out the serious concerns they have about the running of the club.

In the letter, they discuss things like ambition, identity and good decision-making — all of which they feel are extremely lacking under the current administration.

A snippet that captures the message is: “As long-time supporters of this fantastic football club, we are writing to express our serious concerns about the overall direction and management of Wolverhampton Wanderers, particularly amid the ongoing search for another head coach.

“Whilst we appreciate the challenges involved in recruitment and the need for stability, we urge you and the board to recognise the strong and widespread opposition to the decisions currently being made across all areas of the club.”

The sentiment of the letter is one shared by most who are loyal to the Old Gold, and frankly, the message needed to be heard.

Jeff Shi the source of many Wolves fans’ ire

A special section of the letter was reserved for chairman Shi.

Shi has been called out by Wolves fans consistently in recent months, but it seems like the boiling point has been reached.

They state: “Many no longer feel confident that Jeff Shi is the right person to take this football club forward.”

Guangchang is obviously going nowhere. Fosun turned down an offer to buy Wolves just last week, suggesting they are in it for the long term.

Given that fact, any desired change will have to come through change in manager and change at the executive level.
