Opinion: Thierno Barry was so poor, but worrying 0% Everton performance should worry David…

Everton striker Thierno Barry seriously disappointed on Monday night against Sunderland, but there is another player who is also really struggling.

David Moyes witnessed an impressive start to the game at the Stadium of Light, which was then turned on its head after numerous missed opportunities.

Coming away from the draw on Wearside, Sunderland captain Granit Xhaka was impressed by Everton in the opening 25 minutes.

However, the Toffees allowed the hosts back into the game after the likes of Barry failed to convert from close range.

Moyes was not impressed with Barry who was dragged off before the hour mark for the other out-of-form striker Beto.

Everton are struggling to find the back of the net on a consistent basis and it is really beginning to cost them points.

Aside from Barry and Beto, there is one other player who should be starting to worry Moyes with the level of his performances.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is starting to let Everton down

After signing in the summer from Chelsea, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been praised for his Everton displays.

The midfielder scored a stunning goal against Wolves earlier in the season, but he has failed to kick on since.

On Monday evening, the focal point of the three behind Barry, Dewsbury-Hall was far from at his best before being replaced by Carlos Alcaraz.

83 minutes played

1 key pass

0 shots on target

43 touches

2/2 successful dribbles

10x possession lost

0% aerial duels won (2 attempted)

Dewsbury-Hall has admitted he is playing out of position as he would prefer to be used as a box-to-box number eight.

And his performances in that number 10 role are certainly proving that as he is leaving a lot to be desired.

Moyes is going to have a big decision to make ahead of Fulham as to who will start as the striker, but more questions are emerging in other areas.

Dewsbury-Hall will certainly be one of them, with his early season performances now a thing of the distant past.

Carlos Alcaraz could become Dewsbury-Hall’s replacement

If a change is to be made, then Alcaraz will feel he should be next in line to come into the starting XI.

Having signed permanently in the summer, Alcaraz’s Everton game time has folded following the arrival of Dewsbury-Hall.

Everton News columnist Alan Myers has even suggested Alcaraz could play up front instead of either Barry or Beto.

Although the two strikers will be required to find their shooting boots, Moyes will still be demanding more from the players behind them.

Iliman Ndiaye wowed once again against Sunderland, but the likes of Jack Grealish and Dewsbury-Hall are going to have to help chip in with some goals.

Everton enjoyed a solid start to the season, but it is becoming clear that more is needed from some of the players who started the term so well.
