The Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears are all likely hoping that the Seattle Seahawks make cornerback Riq Woolen available at the deadline. That's because all four teams have a need at cornerback.
The Cowboys have gotten lackluster play, to say the least, from their cornerbacks room this season and the injury to Trevon Diggs has only made things worse.
Detroit and Chicago are both dealing with multiple injuries at the position and the Bills have gotten poor play out of Tre'Davious White and are now depending on unproven rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston to pick up the slack in his place.
Woolen has been the center of trade rumors dating back to September, but CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz reports it is "unlikely" Seattle moves the veteran defender.
"It’s currently considered unlikely that the Seahawks trade cornerback Riq Woolen, sources tell CBS Sports," Zenitz reported on Monday night.
This is the right move by Seattle, a team that is not only competing for a playoff spot but is looking like one of the very best teams in the NFL.
While Woolen is no longer a starter, he is extremely valuable as depth for a Seahawks team that has dealt with injuries at cornerback this season.
Devon Witherspoon has been in and out of the lineup and now Josh Jobe is dealing with a concussion. Having Woolen as a depth option is extremely valuable for the Seahawks.
Seattle should be buying at the trade deadline, anyway, and based on reports, that's what is looks like general manager John Schneider will do.
"The Seattle Seahawks... are very aggressive right now for several different positions," FOX Sports' Jay Glazer said on Sunday.
As for the Lions, Bears, Bills and Cowboys, they'll have to look elsewhere for cornerback help at the deadline.
