However, injuries limited Fullkrug to 20 appearances for the Hammers last term and his agent recently claimed it would be in the best interest of both parties if he leaves.

West Ham have now been informed the German wants to leave when the transfer window reopens in a couple of weeks from now.

Fullkrug prefers to leave the Premier League and return to the Bundesliga, but he is open to moving to another league.

He wants to be playing regularly as he eyes a spot in the Germany World Cup squad for next summer.

Fullkrug has been unavailable for selection since West Ham played Arsenal, missing the last three games due to injury.

However, he is set to be available when the Hammers take on Burnley on Saturday before the international break.

West Ham secured a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United last time out, their first home victory in the Premier League since beating Leicester City back in February.

Hammers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo will be desperate for back-to-back wins ahead of the break, and he is likely to call on Fullkrug, as he is now fully fit.

He has played seven times across all competitions this term but has yet to score or assist.

The German scored three times and assisted two goals last term, and West Ham will be more than willing to let him go if an upgrade can be secured in the position.
