Jamie Carragher names the only thing that can stop Arsenal winning the Premier League this season

Arsenal are currently the frontrunners to win the Premier League title, but they know that there is plenty of time for that to change.

The Gunners have been here before, sitting at the top of the division with dreams of lifting a trophy in May.

However, the past three seasons have seen Arsenal finish as runners-up, with the wait for another Premier League title continuing.

There is a sense that this time, things could be different, with an expanded squad available to Mikel Arteta, allowing him to manage injuries better.

With a gap developing at the top, Jamie Carragher now believes only one thing can stop the Gunners from being crowned as champions.

Jamie Carragher says only Erling Haaland can stop Arsenal this season

Recent seasons have seen Arsenal thwarted by their rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool, in the race for the Premier League title.

The Gunners have no intention of repeating that again, with a lead that puts things in their hands for this season.

There is plenty of football left to go, however, but Jamie Carragher believes that Erling Haaland could be the only man capable of stopping Arsenal.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “I think the biggest threat to Arsenal is Erling Haaland. Not so much Manchester City, really.”

“If there was anything to happen to him, you know, for any length of time, maybe four to six weeks, maybe if he had an injury, I don’t think there’d be any way that Manchester City could win the title.

“But right now, I don’t think it’s Liverpool who Arsenal fear, or Manchester City, it’s that man [Haaland].”

With Liverpool’s relative struggles to find balance as of late and Man City’s troubles in some areas, many would point towards Arsenal as the favourites.

However, the standout stars for their rivals could have a big say in the title race before the season ends.

Erling Haaland’s percentage of Man City goals this season

While many have pointed towards Arsenal’s set-pieces as a place the team are wholly reliant, not much has been said of Erling Haaland and Man City.

The striker has been in electric form once again this season, with 13 goals coming from the first ten games in the Premier League.

While the Norwegian forward has been finding the back of the net regularly, the same cannot be said of his teammates.

Maxime Esteve’s two own goals would be the second-highest goalscorer for Man City, if they were in the list.

Beyond that, there is Tijani Reijnders, Nico O’Reilly, Phil Foden, Matheus Nunes and Rayan Cherki all on one goal.

It means Haaland is currently scoring 65% of Man City’s goals in the league, the sort of form that could drag his team into a title race.
