Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has confirmed that the NFL franchise is still in the player market ahead of the trade deadline following the Monday Night Football defeat to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cowboys were condemned to back-to-back defeats by the Cardinals inside their own AT&T Stadium, with Jacoby Brissett-led Arizona running out 27-17 winners as Jones' team's record slipped to 3-5-1 in 2025. The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday, and the Cowboys are in the hunt for players with the potential to make an instant impact and help Dallas clinch a playoff birth after missing out last year.

Earlier on Monday, Jones hinted that his club had already struck a deal, though he kept the specifics under wraps. Following the defeat, he insisted the result hadn't altered their approach to the deadline — stressing that they still have a move lined up and ready to execute.

"We still can, yes," he said. "Again. Stand by what I've said. Absolutely. We'll see how tomorrow goes. Today was all about tomorrow. You shouldn't do anything. You should wait and see what we do tomorrow."

Jones is keen to hold the high ground in negotiations. "I just don't want another team, if I'm interested in completing [the trade], I don't want another team to step in and get it. I've had that happen several times, and it happens," Jones said.

"That's what's going on out here. And in the NFL, nothing's done until both parties have given their submission to the league office at the same time. And that doesn't even matter. That's why I would say there's no trade."

The Cowboys have now dropped back-to-back games and three of their past four overall.

Dak Prescott continues to turn in a vigorous campaign under center, but the defense has completely unraveled. Since moving on from Micah Parsons, the pass rush has all but disappeared, leaving the unit struggling to generate any real pressure.

Dallas sits second in the NFC East, trailing the 6–2 Eagles, but they remain on the outside looking in when it comes to the postseason picture.

A small surge could push them back into the wild-card conversation, yet at this stage, they're chasing rather than leading. Jones appears to be banking on a bold deadline swing to help shift the narrative.

The Cowboys' offense has the talent to put up big numbers against rivals, with Prescott enjoying the services of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.

Running back Javonte Williams has also proved to be a valuable offseason addition.
