Hull City head to Pride Park on Tuesday night, aiming for a third successive away win in the Championship and a victory that would move them into the top six.

Standing in their way will be a resurgent Derby County outfit on a three-game winning run, having backed up two battling home successes by winning 3-1 at Sheffield United on Saturday.

City, though, are six games unbeaten and their 2-0 win at Norwich City on Saturday was their fourth in that string of matches and their impressive points tally has seen them move up to seventh, only outside the top six on goal difference.

Influential in that run has been Joe Gelhardt, who netted his fourth in as many games at Carrow Road to take his tally for the season to six in 13 games, and should he net again in the East Midlands, he would overtake injured Oli McBurnie as the Tigers' top scorer, provided his ankle issue doesn't keep him sidelined.

"When you're on good form, you want the games to come thick and fast, so I'm buzzing for Tuesday," the Tigers ace told Hull Live. "I can't wait, hopefully we go there, get another three points, that's what our aim will be. Rest and recover till then, and then we've got another big one on Saturday with Portsmouth, and we'll try to beat them as well.

"You want them to come thick and fast when we're on this type of form and we're feeling confident going into every game. We know what we're capable of, so we've just got to keep applying that to our game and hopefully we pick up as many points as we can in the next two and then in the busy November and December period."

City have lost four of their last five at Pride Park, with their last success coming in the play-off semi-final back in 2016, a record not dissimilar to the one that faced them at Norwich, before easing to a 2-0 success at Carrow Road.

Like at Birmingham, it was backs to the wall at times, especially in the first half, before Gelhardt's goal afforded them the freedom to take control and see out the win.

Gelhardt says that the level of commitment and desire from the players is absolutely crucial if they're to continue progressing up the league.

"That's the thing in this league, every team's good. You don't get a bad team in this league; it's a high-quality league, so sometimes you do have to suffer," he confessed.

"Take your chances when you come, and I think certainly in the first half we were defending well, and then once we got the goals we defended well as well, and that's what you've got to do. You've got to soak up pressure and catch teams on the break sometimes, and I think that's a strength of ours as a team.

"We can play as well when we have the ball. Away from home, it's always a lot more difficult, so credit to the lads for digging deep and getting the three points."
