Let’s talk about patterns, Dub Nation. The Warriors haven’t lost at Chase Center. The Suns haven’t won on the road. Something’s gotta give tonight and here’s hoping it won’t be Golden State’s unblemished home record.
The Warriors are basically Dr. Jekyll at home and Mr. Hyde on the road, becoming almost unrecognizable the moment their plane crosses state lines. At Chase Center? They’re 3-0 with wins ranging from dramatic (overtime thriller vs Denver) to downright disrespectful (demolitions of Memphis and the Clippers). But on the road, they’re getting torched by guys whose names you’d struggle to recognize. Ryan Rollins dropped 32 in Milwaukee. Two-way player Quenton Jackson poured in 25 in Indiana.
So how’s it gonna go against the division neighbor Phoenix Suns?

Good news? They’re back in San Francisco with two days of rest against a Suns team that plays road games like they’re allergic to airport hotels. Phoenix is 3-1 at home and 0-3 on the road and they’ve been outscored by a combined 53 points in those losses. Clearly these are two teams that love eating some home cooking, and the Warriors really are looking to eat real good in front of their home fans.
Devin Booker’s been cooking (36 against Utah, 28 with 13 assists vs San Antonio), keeping the Suns one behind the Dubs in the win column. Here’s a thought though: The KD-sized hole doesn’t help. Trading Kevin Durant to Houston for Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks gave them pieces, but when you’re trying to steal a road win from an undefeated home team, you’d probably prefer having one of the best scorers in NBA history instead of a project the Dubs rendered ineffective in the playoffs and a pest that Curry, Butler, and Draymond Green get completely motivated to play. With Jalen and Dillon on the floor, there will absolutely be some carry over of the testy vibes that dominated the narrative of the Warriors-Rockets first round series last year.
Curry vs. Booker is the good stuff; two supernova scorers who are must see TV when they step on the court. Steph pulls up from Google Maps coordinates. Booker’s mid-range game looks choreographed by a shooting coach who moonlights in ballet. Both can get theirs, but Curry is likely to crank it up after struggling mightily in the team’s shocking loss to the Indiana Pacers.
