The Cleveland Cavaliers have become one of the most powerful regular-season teams in the Eastern Conference over the last few years because of the competitive roster they’ve built.
At the center of it all has been Donovan Mitchell, who has become the Cavaliers’ most important player since being signed.
When told that he had now played 200 games for Cleveland, Mitchell had a quick response on Sunday.
“I hope I get to play two or three hundred more,” Mitchell said.

During Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, Mitchell produced a resounding 37 points, two rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block.
The Cavaliers put the Hawks away with a 117-109 win.
Mitchell just started his fourth season with the Cavaliers and has averaged 26.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists since coming to the team at the start of the 2022-23 season.
But even with his impressive numbers, there have been questions about Mitchell.
Like the fans, he wants the Cavaliers to be true championship contenders, and there have been worries about what will happen if they don’t reach that level.
Mitchell has been loyal during his time with Cleveland, but it may not always stay that way, and he may try his hand with another team if the Cavs don’t battle all the way to the Finals.
He has gotten off to a great start in the 2025-26 season, and Cleveland holds a 4-3 record.
Their track record is noteworthy, but some people expected more from them, even at this early point in the season.
Mitchell sounds optimistic and still very committed to his team, which is a great sign.
