Sancho to leave for free, Welbeck World Cup hope, West Ham star wants out of 'failed' move

Manchester United are ready to write off any hopes of getting a transfer fee for £70million flop Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils are resigned to allow the England international leave for free next summer - one year ahead of schedule.

Sancho has not played a league game for United since August 2023 following a public spat with former manager Erik ten Hag.

His Old Trafford contract expires next summer, but United have the option to extend by a further year to protect his transfer value.

However, talkSPORT has been told United are leaning towards cutting their losses with Sancho completely rather than risk being saddled with another year of his wages of around £200,000-a-week.

Sancho is on a season-long loan at Aston Villa, but is yet to make a Premier League start for Unai Emery’s men.

He has only made three league appearances so far - including being subbed on and subbed off in the same game.

Wel-back? On fire striker given World Cup hope

Danny Welbeck’s brilliant start to the season has put him in line for an England call-up – and a potential new deal at Brighton.

talkSPORT understands England boss Thomas Tuchel is seriously considering including Welbeck in a Three Lions squad for the first time in seven years after scoring in each of his last three games.

The 34-year-old is also out of contract on the Sussex coast at the end of the season, but given his importance for Fabian Hurzeler’s side on and off the pitch it is almost a no-brainer for them to extend his stay.

The Seagulls like to have experienced heads, like Welbeck and James Milner, in their squad to guide their talented young stars from across the globe.

Welbeck’s last England cap was way back in September 2018 and boasts an impressive England record of 16 goals in 42 games and has already played at one Euros and two World Cups.

Boro's double jeopardy

Middlesbrough are not only facing a fight to keep their manager, but also sporting director Kieran Scott.

As talkSPORT revealed on Sunday in the wake of Vitor Pereira’s sacking, Boro boss Rob Edwards features prominently on Wolves’ list of possible replacements.

Edwards moved higher up the list after Gary O’Neil dramatically pulled out of a return to Molineux on Monday evening following a backlash from fans.

Scott was the man behind appointing former Luton and Forest Green chief Edwards in the summer, but is now on the radar of Championship strugglers Norwich.

West Ham curse strikes again

West Ham are ready to listen to offers for want-away Niclas Fullkrug in January.

Fullkrug has managed just 13 Premier League starts since joining the Hammers from Borussia Dortmund for £27.5m after Euro 2024.

The striker’s own agent Thorsten Wirth this week admitted his client is looking to leave after labelling the move to London Stadium a 'failure'.

West Ham are unlikely to stand in Fullkrug’s way, especially if they can claw back any of the fee they paid to provide manager Nuno Espirito Santo with funds to bring in as many as three new signings.
