The Dallas Cowboys have traded for Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson after Dak Prescott insisted “every game is a must-win.”
On Monday Night Football, the Cowboys — who had been averaging over 40 points per game at home — lost 27-17 to the Arizona Cardinals. The Dallas defense has been one of the worst units in the league through nine weeks, and Jerry Jones has immediately sought to upgrade.

Before the loss to the Cardinals, Jones teased that the Cowboys were close to a trade ahead of the NFL deadline on Tuesday. The move for Wilson bolsters a defense and gets the linebacker, who requested a trade last month, out of Cincinnati.

Wilson has seen reduced playing time this season, despite being one of the Bengals’ standout defensive players. The 29-year-old has two years remaining on a four-year extension worth $36 million that he signed in July 2023.
The Cowboys desperately needed help on defense, and called for names like Bradley Chubb and Wilson’s former Bengals teammate, Trey Hendrickson.
Dallas ranks 31st in the NFL in total defense (397.4 yards per game) and scoring defense (30.8 points per game), placing it ahead of only Cincinnati in both categories.
The move for Wilson highlights a key need for the Cowboys. Dallas fell to 3-5-1 following the loss to the Cardinals, which stings as the game was at AT&T Stadium and Jacoby Brissett started ahead of Kyler Murray at quarterback.
But the Cowboys' offense also stuttered, failing to slow the Arizona pass-rush before falling to defeat. Prescott heard Jones’ quotes regarding a trade, and welcomed adding “a big value guy.”

Ultimately, the quarterback is not thinking about trades. Prescott is convinced that “getting some answers to these issues” is of utmost importance, as the Cowboys need to go on a long winning streak to salvage the season.
“Every game is a must-win going forward,” Prescott told reporters. “I know you say that, and you feel that in the NFL, and you should feel that, but when you put yourself in a position or behind like we have, it’s even more so that case.

“We’re fortunate right now that, in the league, there’s a lot of teams with multiple losses... You can catch a hot streak and be right there in the mix. That’s great, but you gotta get a streak going. And if you don’t get a streak going, you’re just putting yourself more and more behind the eight ball. It’s now or never.”
The Cowboys are yet to win consecutive games in 2025, which makes the notion of going on a run somewhat unlikely. Perhaps Wilson will make an impact, or the Cowboys might make another move before the deadline on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Dallas goes into a much-needed bye week before traveling to Allegiant Stadium to face the struggling Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football on Nov. 17. The Raiders are 2-6.
