The Green Bay Packers (5-2) are currently atop the ultra-competitive NFC North standings, and are eyeing a return to the playoffs after a two-year absence. Despite a stunning loss on Sunday to the Carolina Panthers, 16-13, they remain one of the fastest rising teams in the NFL.
Looking to add depth on defense, the Pack has been linked to a proven cornerback who has been cleared to play. Asante Samuel Jr., who was put on injured reserve late last season and is finally cleared to play, is said to be on the team's radar.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN posted on social media that Samuel was "cleared to play, talking with several teams and could take visits this week."
That was quickly followed up with a reply that seemingly tied the CB to interest from Green Bay. Easton Butler replied to Fowler's post: "I can confirm, Green Bay is VERY interested and will plan a workout."
