Real Madrid lost promising teenager Franco Mastantuono to an injury ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool.
The 18-year-old wonderkid, who arrived from River Plate in the summer, had become a regular starter on the right flank for Xabi Alonso.
However, Mastantuono did not train with the rest of the squad on Monday, and the club confirmed his absence was due to pubalgia, with the Argentine international not being included in the squad list for tonight’s match vs Liverpool at Anfield.
Mastantuono breaks silence on injury
Having stayed in Spain, Mastantuono visited the Real Madrid facilities earlier today as he continued his recovery from the pubic discomfort.
On his way, the youngster had a brief interaction with El Chiringuito TV, during which he broke his silence on the injury and provided an update on his condition.
When asked how he was doing, the Real Madrid wonderkid replied: “Much better.”

The 18-year-old versatile attacking midfielder revealed that he had been dealing with the discomfort for some time, but it has improved now.
“It’s been a while, but I’m doing very well,” confirmed Mastantuono.
On further being asked about when he expected to make his comeback, the Real Madrid prodigy did not give anything away in his response, saying: “I don’t know, mate.”
Since joining Real Madrid in August, Mastantuono has featured in 12 matches across all competitions, scoring and assisting one goal apiece.
The teenage prodigy will hope to make a quick recovery and return to action at the earliest possible.
