Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has suffered a significant blow ahead of his side facing Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League this week as Villa Park fan favourite Tyrone Mings is expected to be out of action until 2026 after sustaining a hamstring injury, according to The Athletic.
The England international was forced off in the latter stages of the Villans' 2-0 defeat to reigning Premier League champions Liverpool last weekend, which came courtesy of goals from Mohamed Salah and Ryan Gravenberch, and is set for a prolonged period on the treatment table.
Mings Facing At Least Seven Weeks Out of Action

Mings is likely to have already made his final appearance of 2025 as the hamstring problem he suffered during the loss to Liverpool is on course to keep him out of contention until the turn of the year, according to The Athletic, after scans on Monday uncovered the extent of his injury.
The central defender, who is on a contract which allows him to pocket £110,000-per-week before bonuses, replaced Pau Torres in the 74th minute of the Premier League encounter before pulling up when sprinting to defend against goalscorer Salah in stoppage time.
Mings was unable to continue, resulting in Aston Villa having to play the remainder of the fixture with 10 men, and The Athletic has suggested that he is poised to be sidelined for a minimum of seven weeks.
The Villans are due to face Maccabi Tel Aviv, Bournemouth, Leeds United, Young Boys, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Brighton & Hove Albion, Arsenal, Basel, West Ham United, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal again before the end of the year and the former Ipswich Town man will definitely miss each of the encounters.
Latest Setback Comes as Cruel Blow for Mings

Mings has already been forced to endure an injury-hit season, having only returned from an ankle issue a matter of weeks ago, so his latest setback will have come as a cruel blow at a time when Aston Villa are looking to progress in the Europa League and return to winning ways following their defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
The 32-year-old has also had two anterior cruciate ligament problems during his time in the Midlands, which has resulted in him spending extensive periods on the treatment table, and his absence will open the door for the likes of Victor Lindelof to challenge Ezri Konsa and Pau Torres for a regular starting berth.
Mings' hopes of making a late attempt to break into England's plans for the World Cup appear to have been dashed, which will be difficult to take, and there is no doubt that he will be doing all he can to return ahead of schedule.
