Everton will be in the market for a new striker in January, but it will not be Dusan Vlahovic making the move to Merseyside.
David Moyes witnessed another shocker of a performance from his strikers on Monday evening up at the Stadium of Light.
After the game finished, Moyes could not believe Barry’s missed opportunity to double his side’s advantage.
Goals are coming at a real premium for Everton this season, with only one of their 10 in the Premier League coming from a striker.
Everton News understands that Everton will look to sign a new striker in January as the Friedkins prepare for further investment.
However, recent suggestions that it could be Vlahovic who Everton are showing interest in may already have fallen flat.

Dusan Vlahovic will not want Everton move in January
It had been suggested that Everton eyed Vlahovic in the summer transfer window as they looked for attacking additions.

Thierno Barry’s struggles have kept Everton in the market for another striker as Vlahovic remains linked in a recent report.
Speaking after the Juventus game at the weekend, new manager Luciano Spalletti has shared Vlahovic’s stance on his future at Juventus.
“Dusan has a slight advantage because he’s used to the pressure of wearing such an important shirt,” he said.
“I spoke to him several times while we were training. He would be very happy to stay here. He’s not worried about his contract, he only wants to play football.”
Graeme Bailey told Everton News that Everton will not make any panic buys in January under their new ownership.
A striker will near the top of their transfer shortlist, but history has shown just how important it is going to be for Everton to select the right player to finally provide the club with some goals.
Everton may need to wait until summer for striker signing
Clearly, Everton need to make a move in January and find an answer to their struggles in front of goal.
However, the rhetoric in January is always about how difficult a market it is for clubs to do their business in.
In recent weeks, Everton News has reported that Richarlison would like to return to Everton in 2026 from Tottenham Hotspur.
Whether a move can be pulled off in January will remain to be seen given the player’s high wages in north London.
Everton have benefitted from Jack Grealish’s loan deal, which could give them confidence in landing another smart temporary deal.
But if Everton are hoping to make a big splash for a new striker, then they may well end up waiting until the summer to pull that trigger.
