Sam Allardyce has clearly misremembered the circumstances surrounding his Leeds United appointment if his latest comments are anything to go by.

Allardyce took over at Leeds for the final four matches of the 2022-23 campaign, and could not guide the Whites to safety.

That is despite the Elland Road outfit sitting 17th in the Premier League, above the drop zone on goal difference when he took over.

Leeds are in a much better position now with Daniel Farke, after the German took them back into the top-flight at the second time of asking.

Sam Allardyce makes new claim about his time at Leeds

Allardyce is known as a survival expert but that was not the case at Leeds, as he failed to keep them in the division.

He has now claimed that he was handed an impossible task, as he spoke about the potential of him taking the vacancy at Wolves and keeping them up.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 4 November, he said: “Yeah [he could keep Wolves up], if they’re good enough, obviously, Leeds was just a journey for me.

“Four games, it would have been an absolute miracle if I pulled them out.”

Leeds fans will laugh at Allardyce’s latest comments

When Allardyce stepped into the LS11 dugout, the Peacocks were not in the relegation zone, and he took them into it by the time the season ended.

His suggestion that it would have been a miracle had he kept them in the top-flight is simply false, and he cannot be serious.

Allardyce’s first game in charge was a 2-1 loss to Manchester City

His side then drew 2-2 with Newcastle and lost 3-1 to West Ham

A 4-1 home loss to Tottenham condemned Allardyce and Leeds to the Championship

The veteran manager left his post on 2 June 2023

He had every chance to save the Whites, but the results in his short stint were not good enough; it is as simple as that.

He was not put in a position where it was nearly impossible to secure survival, it was a difficult position, but the side were not even in the drop zone when he came in.

Allardyce’s latest comments will simply make Whites supporters laugh, and they will not forget the circumstances of his reign, even if he has misremembered them.
