Newcastle United are experiencing more changes behind the scenes, with Peter Silverstone set to leave his role as chief commercial officer.
The hope was that the chopping and changing internally at St James’ Park was finished, with Ross Wilson arriving as sporting director and David Hopkinson becoming chief executive officer.
Eddie Howe has a very talented team above him, but it is a team that continues to change. Three years since his arrival at Newcastle United, Peter Silverstone is set to leave the club.

Peter Silverstone heading to Juventus after Newcastle United
That is according to the Daily Mail, who have reported that Silverstone is now on gardening leave but is leaving the club on ‘good terms’.
The Daily Mail state that Silverstone already has a new job lined up, with the former Arsenal chief set to undertake a role with Serie A giants Juventus.
As he prepares for a new chapter in his career, there could be even more changes on the horizon at St James’ Park.
The Daily Mail add that another ‘senior member of staff’ left the club in October, with more ‘comings and goings’ possible as Hopkinson continues his club audit following his arrival as chief executive.

The high profile comings and goings at Newcastle United under PIF
On the pitch, Newcastle United have been relatively settled since the PIF takeover.
Eddie Howe has galvanised a club that was sinking, bringing them their first domestic trophy since 1955 and guiding them into the Champions League twice. That is why PIF only want Howe as Newcastle manager.
Off the pitch, chaos has reigned supreme ever since the day Mike Ashley handed over the keys to PIF.
There have been so many comings and goings at St James’ Park, with the biggest being Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi. Having bought 10% of the club in 2021, they sold all of their shares in the summer of 2024.
Hopkinson is Newcastle United’s second CEO under PIF, having replaced Darren Eales. His Toon departure was health-related, with Eales suffering from a chronic form of blood cancer.
For football reasons, the Magpies are onto their third sporting director in Ross Wilson. They took a long time to appoint Dan Ashworth, only for him to jump ship and join Manchester United. That was quite the saga, and it was all for nothing with Man United relieving Ashworth of his duties after just five months.
His replacement, Paul Mitchell, has also left. His departure coincided with Eales leaving, with Mitchell leaving St James’ Park with not much to celebrate. He failed to make any major signings, while he always felt at odds with Eddie Howe.
With the trio of Howe, Hopkinson and Wilson, the hope is that things can now be more settled at Newcastle United. While Silverstone’s exit has come as a shock to Toon fans, the Daily Mail report that it was always ‘likely’ after Hopkinson’s appointment.
