The Dolphins let go of general manager Chris Grier after the loss on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens 28-6. For now, Miami is keeping head coach Mike McDaniel and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for the remainder of the 2025 NFL season. After the 2025 season ends, there is a great chance that McDaniel is fired and also Tagovailoa could either be released or traded elsewhere.

Chad Graff and Josh Kendall of the Athletic released their power rankings after week nine of the 2025 NFL season. They have the Dolphins ranked number 29 in the power rankings. Miami is a team that will need to start over at the end of the 2025 NFL season. Graff and Kendall said about the Dolphins,

“This is a franchise in need of a reset. After Thursday’s game, the Dolphins fired general manager Chris Grier. But after this season, big questions loom about the futures of head coach Mike McDaniel and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.”

McDaniel should not be safe as head coach and it appears as if Tagovailoa has taken this football team as far as it can go. One of the biggest mistakes during Grier’s tenure as the Dolphins general manager was drafting Tua over Justin Herbert in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He was the general manager of this football team since the 2016 NFL season. The new regime will want to draft a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. Miami needs to fire McDaniel once the season is over and they also need to move on from Tagovailoa. It was a surprise that he wasn’t fired along with Grier at the same time.
