The Pittsburgh Steelers have missed out on another potential WR addition ahead of today’s trade deadline as New Orleans Saints WR Rashid Shaheed is headed to the Seattle Seahawks, per Tom Pelissero on X.
The Saints were reportedly looking for a third-round pick as of Monday morning. He didn’t fetch quite that much, but the Seahawks still gave up a fourth- and fifth-round pick in return, per Nick Underhill on X.

Jakobi Meyers was the first domino to fall in the trade market, fetching a fourth- and sixth-round pick from the Jacksonville Jaguars. The asking prices were high for the receivers in this trade market, but sellers apparently started to relent as the deadline approaches.
Shaheed, who just turned 27 in August, spent the first three and a half seasons of his career with the New Orleans Saints after being an undrafted free agent in 2022. The small-school product out of Weber State in the Big Sky Conference measured in at 5105, 185 pounds when entering the league. He did not work out at his Pro Day other than putting up 10 reps on the bench press, but his speed is apparent when watching him play.
In nine games this season, Shaheed has caught 44 of his 66 targets for 499 yards and two TDs. His average yards per reception is at a career low of 11.3, with a career figure of 14.9.
Over his four years in New Orleans, Shaheed has started 28 games with 42 total appearances. Over that time, he’s caught 138 of his 216 targets for 2,055 yards and 12 TDs. He also offers value as a return specialist with 64 total punt returns and 39 total kick returns. He’s scored two touchdowns on special teams in his career.
His contract is set to void after this season, which would have complicated matters for the Steelers. Pittsburgh does not negotiate contracts in-season, so Shaheed would have been a half-year rental in need of an unrestricted negotiation in the offseason.
Mike Tomlin strongly suggested they will be making a move ahead of the deadline, and receiver help has been the leading rumor for months now. But those options are quickly dwindling in the 11th hour leading up to the cutoff at 4 p.m.
